SoundScape.mp4This is a personal project of mine that I took up right after finishing development on In The Chamber.
As I did audio for that game, I came across several techniques that there was no use for in that game but that I knew I wanted to try my hand on.
The result is this 4 week project where I created a fully diegetic soundscape including:
Different footstep sounds depending on which terrain the player steps on.
Randomized pitch-shift on each footstep sound so that the player does not hear the exact same sound over and over.
A wind that increases in volume the higher up the player is.
Echoes in enclosed areas
Sound effects that pan from left to right speaker depending on which way the player is facing.
Sound effects that get muffled when an object is placed between the player and the sound source.
The project was made in Unreal Engine 5 with assets from Environments Bundle 6 Maps by SnowyTrain Market
and using fair-use sounds from pixabay.com
